Blessing Others Through Self Reliance

“Even though you may be going through trials, you can still help others because there is always something you can give.”

Have you ever thought of temporal preparedness as a way of helping others? Living providently and being temporally and spiritually prepared is one of the best ways to serve others in their time of need.

Marion G. Romney said, “Without self-reliance one cannot exercise… innate desires to serve. How can we give if there is nothing there? Food for the hungry cannot come from empty shelves. Money to assist the needy cannot come from an empty purse. Support and understanding cannot come from the emotionally starved. Teaching cannot come from the unlearned. And most important of all, spiritual guidance cannot come from the spiritually weak.”

The man in this video lost almost everything of monetary value in the super typhoon that hit the Philippines in November 2013. Although he lost so much, he gave the rest of what he had to help others in need. His desire to serve and willingness to give of himself, was a great blessing to those whose lives he blessed.
